Patrick Fischer of DOSONI Veranstaltungstechnik has been doing the lighting and sound at our concerts for years. In the video, he explains why rock and pop in a church are a challenge – and what he needs more than 100 spotlights for.
If you’re in the audience at “Was uns am Herzen liegt”, you see the musicians. What you don’t see is the man who makes sure you can hear and see them well from every seat: Patrick Fischer and his company DOSONI Veranstaltungstechnik have been behind the lighting and sound of our concerts for years. During the video shoot in front of the illuminated Friedenskirche, Dirk asked him what makes it so special.
First of all, it’s a matter of the heart, like everything at “Was uns am Herzen liegt”, that we get to do this for you.
Rock and pop in a space built for organ and choir
For Patrick, the biggest challenge is the acoustics. A church is built for hymns and organ, not for drums, electric guitars and a dozen microphones. We bring rock and pop into the Friedenskirche, which “isn’t really made for that in the first place”, says Patrick. And yet the space creates a very special setting. His job is to get the sound to every single seat in the house.
A show, not just a PA
Then there is the lighting, long since part of our brand. For one evening at the Friedenskirche, DOSONI uses more than 100 spotlights. That many wouldn’t be needed just to light the stage. It’s about more than that:
It should be an experience, it should be a show, it should be a celebration of life and of music. And we want people to come in with goosebumps and leave with goosebumps.
If you were at the Friedenskirche in 2024, you may remember the Snow Queen: suddenly it was winter on stage, and it was snowing. How was it done? Our lips are sealed. “We’re a bit like magicians,” says Patrick.
Back again on 17 October
At the benefit concert on 17 October 2026 at the Friedenskirche Ludwigsburg, Patrick and his team will once again take care of lighting and sound – for the band, the soloists and three choirs. What he has come up with this time can only be seen live. Get your tickets here – all proceeds go to HOPPS at the Olgahospital Stuttgart.
Thank you, Patrick, for being with us again. And thank you to Dobby, who hid at the end of the video.
