On the evening of 17 August, our heart shone over Ludwigsburg: for a few hours, the tower of the Friedenskirche bore the logo of “Was uns am Herzen liegt” – lit in red, visible from far and wide, two months before the benefit concert on 17 October.
The idea came from Patrick Fischer. With his company DOSONI Veranstaltungstechnik, he has been looking after the sound and lighting of our concerts for years – and he fancied doing something that reaches beyond the church walls. Petra, Jessie, Gudrun, Dirk and Christian answered his call, and so on this Monday evening a small crew gathered at the crossroads in front of the Friedenskirche.
Patrick brought along everything you need for something like this: two large moving-head spotlights plus their own power generator. With these, a motif can be projected sharply onto a sandstone façade over several dozen metres – and on a tower that isn’t flat but has cornices, windows and curves, that is no small feat.
The evening’s crew in front of the result – with Dobby, Patrick’s dog, who patiently joined in.
The motif itself is by Jochen Schieborn, who designs our visual identity with Polygraph Design in Berlin. His heart made of interlaced musical staves still works even when it hangs thirty metres high on a church tower.
What else we got up to that evening, we’re not giving away just yet. Only this much: it has to do with 17 October, and it’s well worth keeping a close eye on us over the coming weeks on Instagram and Facebook.
A big thank-you to Patrick – for having the idea, providing the equipment and giving up a Monday evening for it. And to everyone who came along.
